Hudson Hot Air Affair

The weekend after the ‘Fire on Ice’ Iceboat Racing, we went out to Hudson, WI for the Hot Air Affair.

We got there at 6:30am to watch 40 hot air balloons launch, but the winds had other plans. With the morning cancellation, we returned at 3:30pm for the second launch, and still no luck.

To make up for it, the pilots lit torches and one brave guy actually inflated his balloon for the audience. Strong winds made it dangerous, and there was a high risk of the balloon catching on fire.

The show was a success, and amazing!

This festival is great for children. Pilots let the children take turns to light the torch.

Ball of Fire

Wrapping up.
